Job Description
The Registered Nurse serves as an expert in evaluating patients, administering care, recognizing complications and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. This position uses advanced skills to care for patients who are critically ill and at high risk for life-threatening health problems. This role is responsible for responding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment, acting as patient advocate, and providing education and support to patient families. This position works with increasing independence to set criteria for the quality of patient care, assess patients' needs and cares for patients using specialized knowledge and skills and evaluates the outcomes and interventions. This individual also directs and guides patient care activities of ancillary personnel and other patient care personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient in order to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
- Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered.
- Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
- Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the critical care unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served.
- Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
QualificationsMinimum Education- Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required or
- Associates Degree Nursing Required or
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
Minimum Work Experience- 1-3 years Acute care nursing experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications- Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required and
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Upon Hire Required
- ACLS Provider (ACLS) Upon Hire Required
- National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) within 90 Days Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- Demonstrated clinical competence and regulatory agency education classes in relevant area of nursing practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
